Weather Report
Remaining remarkably dry for the time of the year. We've had a couple of short but heavy downpours in the past 10 days, but, overall the weather has been good with loads of sunshine every day. Temperatures are reaching the high 30's every day, with high humidity thrown in too, so it has been getting uncomfortable for some. Very little wind on most days and sea conditions have been good, with underwater visibility reported by our snorkelers and divers as average to good. The sea close to shore is too hot for swimming. For a more detailed weather history please look at our daily weather reports which we have been writing since October 2009.
If you're thinking of coming to Koh Chang in the next few days, then look for yourself through our webcam for the weather as it is right now, and view the weather images page for an idea about weather on Koh Chang in the recent past. Our weather report and forecast page now contains our own daily weather updates, 4 hourly weather recordings from the Trat station of the Thai Meteorological Department, as well as the current 10 day forecast from MSN.
The season
Since Songkran has finished, Koh Chang is pleasantly quiet. You can have Klong Prao Beach all to yourself and a family of Thais. Some Europeans have been forced to stay here (unlucky souls) whilst waiting for their re-scheduled flights following the Icelandic ash cloud. Some of these have been pleasantly surprised by Koh Chang - they've come here on the hoof instead of waiting in Bangkok. Any toubles in Bangkok have no effect on Koh Chang and we advise our customers to avoid Bangkok city, and if staying in Bangkok overnight, to use a hotel close to the airport. We can book an airport hotel for you for as little as 790 baht.
