Weather Report
Until yesterday, the weather had kept remarkably dry, given the fact that we're now entering a rainy season. Then, yesterday , the day after Songkran (Thai New Year), we had thundery rain storms in the morning, and also during the previous night. Today though some good sunny weather has returned. Heavy downpours are to be expected at this time of year, yet there will also be loads of decent sunny weather too, though usually very hot and humid, possibly touching 40C in the afternoons. Except during the rainstorms, there has been little wind to speak of, and sea conditions have mainly stayed calm, and underwater visibility has generally been reported by our snorkelers and divers as very good. The sea close to shore is too hot for swimming. For a more detailed weather history please look at our daily weather reports which we have been writing since October 2009.

The season
We had a very a strong end of season, culminating with Thai New Year when the island appeared to be full. Now, much quieter and rooms are easy to come by. The protests in Bangkok are having zero effect on Koh Chang, and we advise customers returning via Bangkok airport to take a hotel close to the airport, rather than in the city. We can help you with your Bangkok hotel booking. Volcanic ash over Europe is already causing some Europeans to re-schedule their departures from Koh Chang, and remain on the island until aircraft can again fly to Northern Europe.
