Weather Report

Turian and Banana from the Klong Son ValleyThere has been some rain on one or two days and at night time over the past couple of weeks, but overall the weather has remained good and possibly unseasonably dry with long periods of hot sunshine. There's been little wind to speak of, and sea conditions have mainly been calm, and underwater visibility has generally been reported by our snorkelers and divers as very good. Temperatures have been reaching almost 38C in the afternoons on some days, and sea temperatures just feel hot! Humidity sometimes feels uncomfortable as we approach the Thai New Year, which traditionally is when the rainy season can be expected to begin. For more a more detailed weather story please look at our daily weather reports which we have been writing since October 2009.

If you're thinking of coming to Koh Chang in the next few days, then look for yourself through our webcam for the weather as it is right now, and view the weather images page for an idea about weather on Koh Chang in the recent past. Our weather report and forecast page now contains our own daily weather updates, 4 hourly weather recordings from the Trat station of the Thai Meteorological Department, as well as the current 10 day forecast from MSN.

You can view all of our previous Koh Chang weather reports and news items here.

The season

We're having a strong end of season. Some of the popular resorts remain full, and now we're in the run-up to the Thai new year, the next week will continue in this vein. The protests in Bangkok are having zero effect on Koh Chang, and we advise customers returning via Bangkok airport to take a hotel close to the airport, rather than in the city. We can help you with your Bangkok hotel booking.

Dolphin Swim - Book early

Many are disappointed when trying to book the Dolphin Swin at Laem Sing because at busy periods it can be fully booked. To make sure you get to do this once-in-a-lifetime activity, then please try to give us around 10 days notice. If that means contacting us before you arrive on Koh Chang, then please do so via our contact page. Notice, and with apologies, Oasis Seaworld will not be doing the SWIM with Dolphins until later in 2011 - precise date not given by Oasis. They are, though, open for the show only during this time, and we are still taking bookings for the show.
