Weather Report
Since the last weather update of 20th August, the pattern has remained largely the same. Today has started sunny with some white cloud too, but there was, as usual, some rain over night. Most of the last few days have seen short showers of sometimes heavy rain.
Overall, August was comparatively good. According to the Thai Met Office, in Trat Province, there was 374mm of rain that month, which although being as much rain seen in a whole year in most regions in the temperate latitudes, the memory is of much sunny and dry weather too. The rain, when it came, was mostly overnight, and in fairly short but heavy showers. September and beyond should see less and less rain until it's typically continually dry from the beginning of November. Daytime temperatures are usually around 30 degrees, and in the evening quite pleasant at around 23 degrees. At night time, around 19 degrees, or even lower following rainfall.
We heared that one of the Chai Chet based fishing boats capsized last night. Thankfully the crew survived after 4 hours exposure in the open seas. It's obvious that there is still a risk of high seas.
If you're looking at the weather from our website, do not always rely upon Qwikcast which is consistently predicting thunderstorms, even for the current day, when it is in fact dry. If you are thinking of coming to Koh Chang in the next few days, then look for yourself through our webcam for the weather as it is right now, and view the weather images page for an idea about weather on Koh Chang in the recent past. MSN's weather forecast for Trat and Koh Chang seems to be reasonably accurate, and can be found here.
Owing to the present good weather, our shop on the beach is open from 8am until 8pm, and the beach front webcam is now usually on-line, rainfall permitting.
